I was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary. My childhood was filled with magic and wonderment, despite the fact that I was growing up in a highly dysfunctional family. My parents constantly fought and quibbled. My father was a hopeless gambler. So in my early years I decided to wander off as soon as I could.
I came to the United States in January of 1979, arriving in Akron, Ohio. Having watched movies about the United States, I found Akron very displeasing. I was twenty one and I had expected (or should I say hoped for) high-rise buildings and the excitement of the hustle and bustle of New York or Los Angeles from my cinematic experience. It was a contrast too much to bear.
After I left Ohio, I moved around in the US as a computer consultant and technical writer, working on larger IT projects for various Fortune 500 companies. I have driven from coast to coast several times, having lived in New York City, Chicago, Nebraska, Austin, Texas, Colorado Springs, and Seattle. Finally I have settled in California, where I have met my spiritual teacher, who was teaching Agni Yoga. Later I found out that he and his guru practiced Hermetic science and not the true orthodox Agni Yoga, which is based upon some texts written by the Roerich family.
My teacher’s guru was a true healer and his ideas and book were widely followed as he proved time and time again to be the genuine article. During the three years I had spent with my teacher.
Ever since I met my yoga teacher, my life has become a magical journey filled with wonders and bewildering events. Partially because of what I have learned and partially because I have dedicated my life to self-realization. I have been studying Mahayana Buddhism, Taoism, and the Vedas. Since writing and publishing cannot support me full-time, I decided on early retirement at age 62, right before Covid hit.
Currently, I am an ardent follower of the Indian philosophy of Advaita Vedanta, where beliefs are optional but direct experience is encouraged and expected by self-inquiry and continuing introspection.
My hobbies are nature, writing/publishing and of course, cats.
